Evans Eshun, a self-styled Ghanaian prophet popularly known as Ebo Noah, was arrested by the Ghana Police Service on December 31, 2025.
Key Details of the Arrest
Current Status: As of January 1, 2026, he is reportedly being held behind bars. The IGP’s Special Cyber Vetting Team handled the arrest, and investigations into the spread of false information and public panic are ongoing
Reason for Arrest: The arrest followed widespread public anxiety and “fear and panic” caused by his failed doomsday prophecy. He had predicted a catastrophic global flood would begin on December 25, 2025.
The “Arks” Controversy: Eshun claimed to have built “modern-day arks” (which were later identified as wooden boats not owned by him) and urged followers to register for safety. Reports indicate hundreds of people from various regions, including neighboring countries, abandoned their homes and traveled to his site with luggage, creating a potential humanitarian crisis.
Failed Prophecy & Public Backlash: When the flood failed to occur on Christmas Day, public criticism intensified. Eshun was later seen at a high-profile music concert (Sarkodie’s Rapperholic 2025) on the same day he predicted the world would end, claiming the “Lord had shifted the date”.
